Why Fiber Prep Matters to Get the Yarn You Want (Learn from My Mistakes)
I dove head first into spinning up a dense merino combed top with the audacity of someone who truly believed I could make it do something it didn't want to do. My first singles spun up much denser, and thicker, than I wanted, and I thought I could fix it. Maybe I could have, but I dusted off my sleeves and raided my stash to restart and do it all again... correctly. By making rolags from the combed top and trying again, I was able to meet my grist and wraps per inch targets for my sweater project. If you want to learn from my mistakes, commiserate, or just laugh with me, I hope you'll join along. Let me know if you have any fiber arts related techniques, projects, or tools you'd like me to feature in an upcoming video! As always, you can find me on instagram as Needle_Wheel_loom: / needle_wheel_loom I also have an etsy shop with some digital download control cards for knitters and spinners: https://needlewheelloom.etsy.com
