Kim Yeon-su, the managing patent attorney at Hanyang Patent & Law Firm, is a college dropout who, despite his academic background, passed the patent bar exam with the highest score and became the head of one of the top 1% of Korean patent firms. He is a meditator who has authored ten books on meditation. He has recently published "Jeonggyeon" (published by Teodeukgol), a comprehensive compilation of his mind studies. With over 100 employees, Hanyang Patent & Law Firm is the largest patent firm in Korea with extensive experience in Samsung Electronics' mobile phone design division and Hyundai Motor Company's patented technology and automotive design divisions. When Apple sued Samsung Electronics for design infringement, Kim worked overnight with the Samsung design team to identify evidence that could invalidate or diminish Apple's design rights, a crucial asset in the US court proceedings. When he was in the third grade of elementary school, his father passed away, and the family went bankrupt. Forced to flee the harsh winter, he was forced to work as a newspaper seller and merchant. As the head of a small family, he tried everything he could, from selling newspapers to doing other things. Amidst the ups and downs of life, he encountered a Buddhist monk and became a monk, but returned to secular life after two years. However, he could not forget the light he had seen in the Zen masters of his time, such as Venerable Cheonghwa, Venerable Seoong, and Venerable Songdam. Since Hanyang Patent Law Firm was established over 20 years ago, he has devoted every spare moment to spiritual practice.
