과거의 나쁜 기억으로부터 현재의 내 삶을 지켜내는 방법
Bad things that happened in the past are bound to have a negative impact on us as we live in the present. However, the extent to which past misfortunes negatively affect us now is not automatically determined by what happened in the past, but rather by how we accept them today. Many people live harboring deep feelings of 'revenge' and 'hatred' due to bad experiences in the past. Doing so allows the past to permanently ruin one's future. It is already unfair enough that such bad things happened in the past, but wouldn't it be even more unfair if they caused your future to continue to be unhappy? Bad past events or memories cannot be changed. However, you can decide how those bad memories will affect your future life. In addition, please consider the following questions. Question 1. Let's assume there is someone who has suffered greatly from their parents since childhood, to the point of bordering on child abuse. (In reality, there are many such people.) But what would happen if that person continued to fill their heart with resentment and a desire for revenge against their parents? As you go through life, you will inevitably be forced to live spreading that anger to those around you. In other words, you will become a person very similar to the parents who abused you. Furthermore, your physical and mental health will be damaged. In short, you will lead an unhappy life. It is unfair enough that you were abused as a child; do you want to continue living unhappily in this one life you have? Don't you want to protect your future life from bad memories of the past? Question 2. Why did parents who abuse their own children become that way? There is likely no one who is consumed by anger and negative emotions to the point of abusing their own child, even if their living conditions were otherwise gentle, comfortable, and happy. Please take a moment to reflect on the life circumstances of the person who ended up abusing their child. What were the life situations that drove that person to activate their amygdala in such a way? You cannot change past memories or experiences. Trying to come up with a new and positive interpretation of those past memories or experiences is likely to become a hypocritical act of deceiving yourself. However, regardless of what happened in the past, it is entirely possible to stabilize my amygdala and activate my prefrontal cortex today, at this very moment. This is the goal of mental strength training for a comfortable transition.
