I’ll Knit If I Want To: Episode 262
Welcome to I’ll Knit (& Spin!) If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions! Sign up for my newsletter here: Sign up for the DRK Newsletter: http://eepurl.com/diPxsr In this week’s episode we cover… 1. Hi Andrea, I found carpet beetles in my house recently and am in the process of baking my yarn stash and washing all my knits to kill any potential hitchhikers. I'll be storing everything in vacuum seal bags and plastic bins going forward. But my question is, how do you suggest handling the handknits I've worn but don't need to be washed yet? I usually keep them in a laundry basket and wash them at the end of the season before putting them away. But I feel like I need to protect these now too! Any advice would be appreciated 💖 2. As I was watching your last episode, I was knitting a 1x1 ribbing portion of a vest. Shortly after the episode ended, I realized I'd read my pattern wrong and had to rip back several days of work. I took this as a sign from the universe that I should try combination knitting since you had just been talking about it. I watched your tutorials and re-started the ribbing and really like the result! My question is, how do you adapt SSK and K2tog to combination knitting? I watched a bunch of videos and got multiple answers which mostly left me even more confused. Thank you! 3. Hi Andrea! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I always catch a great trick (or two, or three) that makes knitting even more fun, if that's somehow possible. I was wondering how you manage to choose colors that go with your skin/hair/eye tone so well, especially if the color is new to you and skeinned up so you can fully see it. My coloration is similar to yours and sometimes I see you choose a color I think would never work for me, just to see you pull it off beautifully! I'd love to take that color courage with me to yarn and fabric stores. 4. Currently enjoying the applied button band on your comebackagain cardigan and was curious now that I have found that I really love how this looks and how meditative it is to knit if it can be used interchangeably on a crew neck cardigan as it is on the v neck of your design? If my 4x4” swatch grew a 1/2 inch in length after blocking does that the item I am knitting will grow 1/2 inch in length per every 4 inches when I block it?
