Visita all'ex centrale nucleare di Caorso: come l'Italia ha BUTTATO il suo potenziale
The Caorso BWR reactor was the most modern and efficient reactor ever operated in Italy. Built between 1970 and 1978, it began commercial operations in 1981 after two years of testing. In October 1986, it was shut down for maintenance, and orders came from above not to restart it: it was already known that the Italian nuclear program would be shut down, although the referendum would not come until late 1987. The final shutdown officially took place in 1990: the reactor therefore operated for only five years. Of the Italian nuclear reactors shut down between 1987 and 1990, Caorso was the only one that would still be in operation today: a gigantic waste of money and energy.
