We Saw Wild Ibexes in the Swiss Alps 🏔️ | And Our Adventure Is Getting Real

After hiking the first stages from Maloja to St. Moritz of our upcoming bicycle expedition , we decide to make one last little detour before heading home ⛰️🤍. And I’m so glad we did. Near Pontresina, we encounter a herd of wild alpine ibexes — Steinböcke — for the very first time in our lives. Around 25 males quietly resting above the village, surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the Swiss Alps. We spend hours simply watching these incredible animals and learning more about their lives in the mountains. At this time of year, the males still remain lower down while the females have already moved higher into the Alps to give birth to their young. But this video is also about something else: the strange emotional space before a big adventure begins. As I record this, we are only two weeks away from leaving for 5 on Bikes – Expedition Inn & Danube 🚲. And while part of me is incredibly excited… another part seriously questions whether cycling for five weeks with three children is actually a reasonable life choice. Not because of my kids, but because of all the logistics involved. It is immense! There are moments where an all-inclusive resort suddenly sounds very tempting 😅. But deep down, I know I’m not really searching for comfort. I’m searching for experiences that feel real.
