When Dreams Crash | Our Expedition Isn't Happening 🚲💔

This is not the video I thought I would be making. Just a few days before the start of 5 on Bikes – Expedition Inn & Danube, one of our children had an accident that means cycling is no longer possible for several weeks. Of all the things I had planned for this adventure — routes, campsites, equipment lists, weather scenarios, backup plans — this was the one possibility that never made it into my spreadsheets. The first days were hard. We were sad. Disappointed. And honestly, quite heartbroken. For months, we had dreamed about following the Inn and the Danube together by bicycle. And suddenly, only days before departure, that dream no longer seemed possible. In this video, I take you along as we slowly come to terms with our new reality. We allow ourselves to be disappointed. We ask ourselves difficult questions. And we begin to explore what our seven weeks of summer might look like instead. Should we stay home? Should we do something completely different? Or can Expedition Inn & Danube still happen in another form? Over the course of the week, we slowly realize something important: Sometimes dreams crash. But that doesn't necessarily mean the adventure is over. It might simply look different than we imagined.
