Milan is under lockdown: Vance has arrived in the city. The US Vice President entered the Hotel Gallia, a luxury hotel next to the Central Station. The American delegation, arriving to attend the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics, which will be held at the San Siro Stadium on Friday evening, occupies four floors of the building. Security is tight around the Gallia. All law enforcement agencies are present, from the State and Local Police to the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza. Traffic is strictly closed, with the exception of a guarded corridor for public transportation. The presidential car has entered the hotel parking lot, while most of the motorcade that escorted the US Vice President to Milan remains outside. US intelligence and police forces are also present, supported by snipers from above, keeping watch. Accompanying JD Vance on this trip are his wife, Usha, and their three children, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel. The US Vice President landed at Malpensa this morning shortly after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. After reception at the hotel, he attended a gala dinner with President Sergio Mattarella, followed by a reception at the Royal Palace the following day and the highly anticipated opening ceremony of the Games at San Siro.
