However, at Vivero Los Montes Verdes, near Los Teques, the De Freitas family has discovered that many leaves, flowers, and succulents are edible. Not only that, but they can enhance a dish with their special flavors, be used as garnish, or even float in cocktails, surprising anyone. It's unusual to arrive at a nursery and see rows of flowers that you've always seen as simple decorations on avenues or in gardens. You'd never think of eating them, but it turns out that many of them are delicious and crunchy. The great advantage of Vivero Los Montes Verdes is that they don't use pesticides or harmful products. This allows people to walk through the aisles and try the plants straight from the plant. In addition, the nursery's owner, José Manuel De Freitas, has partnered with chef Camilo Topolanski.
