Hanbridge mandarin HSK Grammar:How to differentiate 见 and 见面

Hi everyone, nice to see you again! Welcome to Hanbridge Mandarin HSK program. Today we’re going to compare two words 见and见面. Actually usages of these two words are mostly different from each other, but because of the same meaning and the similar pronunciation, Chinese learners will mix them up at the beginning. So let’s have a look of them. 见 and 见面 means “meet/see” in a certain degree. They can be swapped in negative situations following the temporal adverbial. However, even this pair of words has the same meaning; they mostly differ from each other in main situations and cannot be swapped. （然而，尽管这两个词有相同的意思，他们在大多数语境中都不能互换。） 见：It is used as a verb, which can be followed by objects. （见：用作动词，后面可以接宾语。） 见面：It is used as a separable word, it’s already a Verb+Noun structure itself, which cannot be followed by objects directly. The object of the action usually appear with “跟/和/与”, which is translated “with”, and it can be used as a pattern “跟/和/与….见面”.
