God Only Knows Where The Beatles Would've Been Without The Beach Boys
I had been putting off covering Pet Sounds on Vinyl Friday for literally years, because there is SO much to talk about – how could one possibly editorialise? Finally, I put it up on the Classic Album Week poll at the top of the month, and it won by a country mile. And listen, I did my best to editorialise. Indeed, I had intended for this song to be approximately half as long as it is. But if you’re covering Sir Paul McCartney’s favourite song, you know it’s going to require close attention, right? The Beatles were my first love, and the band I know best, so it seemed natural to journey through Pet Sounds from their perspective. For what would they have been without the work of Brian Wilson and his Boys of the Beach? There are so many cats in this video, running hither and thither. God only know what they were up to, on their inscrutable cat missions. There’s also a purring chicken, but she’s more of a cameo at the very end... Happy Friday, folks! For those of you with a burning desire to generally support what I do, I'm here to help you along in that journey: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/fathommu...
