I came not to bring peace, but a sword. 35 I came to set son apart from father, daughter apart from mother, and daughter-in-law apart from mother-in-law. 36 Enemies of household will be made against each other. 37 Anyone who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. No one who loves son or daughter more than me is worthy of me. 38 Anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 40 Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. 41 Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous person because he is righteous will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 Truly I tell you, whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple will by no means lose his reward “It will be.” 11:1 After Jesus had given all these instructions to the twelve disciples, He went out from there to teach and preach the Gospel in the towns of the Jews.
