A Day in My Life: Backcountry Ski - 31 Hours R/T

this is footage from a 31-hour round trip Backcountry ski adventure in Inyo national Forest. specifically, at University Peak. I left my house around noon. arrived at the trailhead around 4:00 p.m.. and then started up. it was 73° F at the trailhead at 5:00 p.m.. ridiculously hot for 9,200 ft. and I had full sun on me the entire Ascent. and of course I decided to wear ski pants so I didn't have to carry them, and should have been in shorts. I even considered hiking in my underwear, it was that hot . I camped by Matlock Lake. and was up at sunrise and decided to poke around the drainage by slim Lake. and not go up to bench Lake and up those chutes. I think the snow would have been better, but not worth the extra climbing . parts of the snow were so soft that it was easier to climb on Rock and by 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 am The snow was pretty shot. So I descended and made it home by dinner. this video is a little longer than I would like. So future ones will be shorter with less rambling. and you can find me on Instagram @jonohart13
