Bad Bergzabern is located in the South Palatinate at the western edge of the Upper Rhine Plain, at the Haard edge, on the ascent to the eastern edge of the Wasgau, which is also known as the southern part of the Palatinate Forest; the southwestern part of the urban forest area is also part of the Upper Mundat Forest. In the middle of the Wasgau, about three kilometers northwest of the city center, lies the district of Blankenborn. Geologically, the area is dominated by light yellow and bleached sandstone. In addition to the designated district of Blankenborn, the city of Bad Bergzabern includes the residential areas of Augspurgermühle, Emilienruhe (children's home), and Liebfrauenberg. Neighboring municipalities are, in clockwise order, Pleisweiler-Oberhofen, Kapellen-Drusweiler, Dörrenbach, Birkenhördt, Silz, and Gleiszellen-Gleishorbach.
