DEUTSCHLAND ! LEBEN IN EINEM TRADITIONELLEN ⛰️ BERGDORF . BIRKENHÖRDT 4K
Birkenhördt is a local community in the Südliche Weinstraße district in Rhineland-Palatinate. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Bad Bergzabern. The place is located in the Wasgau, which is formed by the southern part of the Palatinate Forest and the northern part of the Vosges. The Gehlmühle residential area belongs to Birkenhördt. Neighboring communities are - clockwise - Silz, Bad Bergzabern, Dörrenbach, Böllenborn, Erlenbach bei Dahn and Vorderweidenthal. The 431 meter high Hohe Kopf stretches in the southwest on the district border with Erlenbach. The Erlenbach rises in Birkenhördt. The Anbach, which flows into it from the left, forms the district border with Bad Bergzabern in the east. In the southeast, the Böllenborn also touches the municipality of Birkenhördt for a short stretch. Until the end of the 18th century, Birkenhördt belonged to the Electoral Palatinate and within this to the Oberamt Germersheim. There it formed the Birkenhördt winery, which was also responsible for Böllenborn and Reisdorf. From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire, Birkenhördt was incorporated into the canton of Annweiler and had its own mairie, which also included Bellenborn and Reichsdorf as well as Blankenborn. In 1815 the community had a total of 464 residents. In the same year the location was added to Austria. Just one year later the location changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria. From 1817 Birkenhördt belonged to the canton of Bergzabern. From 1818 to 1862 Birkenhördt was part of the Bergzabern Land Commissioner, which was then converted into a district office. In 1928 Birkenhördt had 545 residents who lived in 112 residential buildings. At that time, the Catholics had a local parish, the Protestants belonged to that of Dörrenbach.[3] In 1939 the place was incorporated into the Bergzabern district. After the Second World War, the community within the French occupation zone became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate. As part of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate, the town changed to the newly created Landau-Bad Bergzabern district on June 7, 1969, which was renamed the Südliche Weinstraße district in 1978. In 1972 Birkenhördt was assigned to the newly formed municipality of Bad Bergzabern. Stay tuned for more exciting travel and exploration!
