Cobbler Lake Track - VHC

This video profiles Cobbler Lake Track which runs between Abbeyards Road and Speculation Road. Cobbler Lake Track is one of the epic tracks in the VHC that is great fun to take on. The track climbs up a steep, undulating ridge line and offers a variety of track conditions. The lower section has a lot of clay and can be extremely sloppy and rutted when wet. Further up the track, there are some steep slopes to climb before hitting Lake Cobbler Road. From this intersection to Lake Cobbler, the track is well maintained and more or less a dirt road. On the way to Lake Cobbler, spectacular views of the Dandongadale Falls can be had from the track. Lake Cobbler is one of the gems of the VHC. The lake is pristine and one of the best places to camp and swim during the warmer months. The walk to Mt Cobbler also starts at the lake, and is a must do for the adventurous. Lake Cobbler Hut is also worth checking out. The section of track between Lake Cobbler and Speculation Track is usually a complete mess, however recent track works have greatly improved the track conditions. Note: this section will eventually revert back to its usual mess after a bit of rain and 4wd traffic. Cobbler Lake Track takes approximately 2-2.5 hrs to complete including a brief stop at Lake Cobbler, highly recommended! I rate this track as a medium, mainly due to the steep slopes on the ridgeline, sections of clayey loam and the section above the Cobbler Lake which can be interesting. Catch you out there!
