Speculation Track - VHC

This video profiles Speculation Track which runs between the intersection of Cobbler Lake Track and Speculation Road to the carpark at Mt Speculation. This track is gazetted as Speculation Road however many 4wders also refer to it as Speculation Track. Speculation Track is a proper little 4wd track that is great fun to drive. The track is gently undulating and the conditions vary along the track. The track is generally rough, with lots of rock, both loose cobble and bedrock. The track also holds a fair bit of water after rain. Most of the water holes are shallow, however there are one or two half decent holes to be wary of. Driving along this track is a somewhat technical drive, as you need to carefully pick the lines to avoid snagging the rocks. A lifted suspension is definitely recommended. The carpark at Mt Speculation is small and tight. A short 30 min walk from the carpark takes you up to the summit of Mt Speculation which has amazing views of the VHC, including the Viking formation and Wonnangatta Valley. The track takes around 50 mins to drive (one way) is a medium 4wd track. Track filmed Nov 2025.
