I think one of the most inspiring things about Miraculous is how Marinette and Adrien are willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of each other. It may have started out as a lighthearted crush (and an intense one at that) but over time their love and concern for each other only grows - on either side of the masks - and they strive to keep each other safe and protect the one they love from harm no matter the cost. As Olaf once said, "Love is putting someone else's needs before yours." And that's the main thing that comes to mind when I hear this song. (I was soooo sad they didn't put it in Wish...but that's a topic under my other amv) This song really highlights a love that isn't afraid to risk everything - their own comforts, wishes, and safety, to save the one they love. And yep, those who've been here a while will know I can't help bringing up the greatest love story of all time - one that is still true today. The Bible says "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 What could be a better display of love than being willing to defend someone with your very life? Did you know that Jesus, the Son of God, did that for you? The Bible says in Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this - while we were still sinners Christ (Jesus) died for us." We humans have a problem - we all sin and do bad things, and the Bible says the cost of our sin is death. But because he loves us, Jesus paid the cost of our sin when he died on the cross in our place, sacrificing himself so we could be forgiven and have a restored relationship with God as well as the promise of heaven after we die. This might not sound important to you, and you might not believe it at all, but I wish I could show you just how real and wonderful it is. I know what it's like to feel as though happiness is beyond your reach. I know what it's like to feel alone and to be searching for something to fill the emptiness inside. It may seem too good to be true, but Jesus is real and he can be that someone for you. All my life he has been drawing me close, his love is amazing and powerful and true, and he wants to love you, protect you, and hold you through all of life's trials and hardships. When I focus on Jesus and his goodness toward me, all of my pain feels smaller, and I know I can carry on because he is right there with me. Nothing compares to the comfort of his peace and presence, and no matter what I face I know my future is already secure in him. He's not some mystical, religious icon, but the Creator of the universe, and someone who genuinely cares about you personally. No matter how lost you may feel or how hopeless things may seem, he is always reaching out to you, pursuing you with earnestness and love, waiting for you to put your trust in him and the sacrifice he made. Romans 6:23 says "For the wages (cost) of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." And Psalm 34:8 says "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man who trusts in him." I can't tell you how precious it is to be able to put my hope and trust in Jesus. For lack of a better example it's like having Cat Noir by your side 24/7. Someone to protect you, support you, encourage and strengthen you, as well as hold you when things get hard. And they do get hard. Being a Christian doesn't magically make all your problems go away, but it means you don't have to go through them by yourself. One of my favorite Bible verses is Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." 💜 I have needed that lately. I went to a funeral yesterday for a dear friend of our family who was almost like a third grandfather for us. It's a little easier because he was really old (in his nineties actually) so I knew it was coming, and he could barely hear or do anything anymore, and he is a Christian so I know he'll be much happier and get to see his wife again, but it's still sad to not be able to see him anymore. That made me think of another part of this song - Love has a cost. When faced with pain like this, part of me wants to stop caring entirely - to wall myself off from people so I never risk getting hurt. But the problem is I do care about people. I love my brothers, my parents, my Mimo, my friends, and it scares and saddens me to think that one day I will lose them all. I almost hope never to fall in love because I shudder to imagine the devastating loss of having to one day lose them too. But that's where perspective as a Christian changes things. I know death is not the end. There is more afterwards, and anyone who puts their faith in Jesus will not cease to exist but rather be welcomed into heaven and experience beauty and health and abundance of wonder and joy in ways we can't even imagine.
