Located southeast of the capital, Managua, is the San Pedro Cemetery. It borders the iconic Avenida de Bolívar a Chávez to the east and the INSS Central Hospital to the west. It was founded as a result of the cholera pandemic that ravaged Nicaragua in 1855, forcing authorities to create a burial site on the outskirts of Managua.
