Cortez is located in extreme southwest Colorado. It has a population of around 8,800 (but it seems larger than that), and sits at an elevation of around 6,200 feet. Cortez is growing, but it doesn't seem to be experiencing the crazy transformation that many towns in Colorado have gone through. I like it here. I could live here....BUT there is a little too much winter here for my tastes....
