Sentiero Nico Gusella (B) & Ferrata del Velo (B/C) - Palaronda Via Ferrata Tour - Tag 2

Palaronda Via Ferrata Tour in 4 Days – Day 2: From Rifugio Rosetta via the Sentiero Nico Gusella (B) and the Via Ferrata del Velo (B/C) to Rifugio Velo della Madonna (mid-August 2025) On the second day, the route continues along two easier via ferratas, which are rated B and B/C, respectively, but each has only short sections in this difficulty range and are overall significantly easier than the previous day. In comparison, the hiking trails are more challenging in places. From Rifugio Rosetta, the trail first descends, then follows beautiful hiking trails along the mountain slopes and past green meadows. The first exciting path, carved into the rock, is secured with steel cables, but it is not yet a via ferrata. We climb up to Passo di Ball (2,443 m) and traverse right toward a rock pinnacle via a steep, somewhat tricky path to the start of the Sentiero Nico Gusella. The main section of the via ferrata ends at the top of Forcella Stephen (2,650 m); from there, the route continues slightly downhill to the left, with the path secured in only a few places (A, A/B). After another small saddle, the trail descends with a fantastic view of the twin peaks Sass Maor (2,814 m) and Cima della Madonna (2,572 m) to Forcella Porton. On the third day, we’ll arrive here from the right and ascend to the left toward the Ferrata Porton. Today, we continue straight ahead; after a short stretch of walking terrain, the secured sections of the Ferrata del Velo begin, which is climbed horizontally or in a descending direction. The only B/C section comes toward the end; after that, it’s an easy hike along a trail for about 15 minutes to the Rifugio Velo della Madonna. Start: Rifugio Rosetta Finish: Rifugio Velo della Madonna Distance: 9.6 km Duration: 6–7 hours Elevation gain: 610 m up, 860 m down (via ferrata sections combined: 300 m, 3.5 hours) Difficulty: T6, via ferrata up to level B/C GPX: https://out.ac/IgJBAn
