"In the days of Ahaz, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up against Jerusalem to wage war against it, but they could not take it. And this news was brought to the house of David: 'Aram has encamped in Ephraim!' Then the king's heart and the hearts of his people trembled, as trees tremble in the wind in the forest. The LORD said to Isaiah: "Go out to meet Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, at the end of the conduit of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Fuller's Field, and say to him, 'Be careful, be quiet, do not fear! Do not let your heart faint because of these two smoking butts of firebrands, because of the fury of Rezin, the Arameans, and the son of Remaliah. Because the Arameans, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have planned your destruction, saying, 'Let us invade Judah, let us terrify it, and subdue it for ourselves, and set the son of Tabeel as king over it.'" Thus says the LORD God: 'Never mind this! It shall not come to pass. For the city of Aram is Damascus, and the city of Damascus is Rezin; and the city of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. Yet sixty-five years, and Ephraim shall cease to be a nation. If you do not believe, you will not be established."
