Gospel of the Day Sunday, July 5, 2026 Audio Gospel today in Italian with commentary by    / @frastefano   Today's Liturgy of the Word, from the Gospel according to Matthew Glory to you, O Lord Mt 11:25-30 At that time, Jesus said: "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the understanding and revealed them to little ones. Yes, Father, for this is what you have purposed. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Word of the Lord Praise to you, O Christ "You are blessed because you have faith." This is something I hear from time to time. There are people who think that to reach God you need to be perfect, cultured, impeccable, almost "special," chosen. And yet Jesus surprises us: the Father allows himself to be encountered by the little ones. Not by the little ones because they are ignorant, but by the little ones because they are humble, genuine, and willing to be guided. Perhaps the path to God is not becoming more complicated, but simpler. It doesn't mean stopping thinking, but stopping believing that we can control everything with our heads. There are things that are understood only when the heart opens. Our journey, then, can begin with very concrete gestures: stopping for a few minutes in silence, praying even when we feel nothing, reading a page of the Gospel slowly, asking for forgiveness, starting over after a fall, learning to trust. God often comes through simple things that the world considers small. Jesus says that the Father reveals himself to those who the Son wants to reveal him. This means that faith is not a proud conquest, but an encounter. And encounters arise when we leave the door open. Don't be discouraged if you feel fragile, confused, or still distant. Sometimes that's where God can speak to us best. The Lord isn't looking for special people, but simple people, willing to let themselves be loved.
