Srimad Bhagvatam 2.5.31 | You Are NOT Your Senses — But They Were Made For You @vinniekakkar7579

You have two eyes, two ears, a nose, a tongue, skin, hands, legs, genitals, a voice, and an outlet for evacuating. You use them every waking moment. But do you know where they came from — and why the very fact of having them keeps you in the cycle of birth and death? In today's class on Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 2, Chapter 5, Verse 31, Brahmājī reveals to Nārada Muni the origin of all the sense organs — and in doing so, explains the deepest root of the material struggle for existence.⚡ The Mode of Passion Creates the SensesBy further transformation of the mode of passion, the sense organs like the ear, skin, nose, eyes, tongue, mouth, hands, genitals, legs, and the outlet for evacuating, together with intelligence and living energy, are all generated. VedabaseThis verse lists the ten sense organs that emerge from the mode of passion (rajo-guṇa): Knowledge-Acquiring Senses (Jñānendriya)Working Senses (Karmendriya)👂 Ear — hearing🗣️ Mouth — speech🖐️ Skin — touch🤲 Hands — grasping & action👁️ Eyes — sight🦶 Legs — locomotion👅 Tongue — taste♾️ Genitals — procreation👃 Nose — smell🔄 Anus — evacuationAnd along with these ten, two more emerge from the same mode: intelligence (buddhi) and prāṇa (living energy) — the vital force that animates the entire body.🔄 Why Passion Is the Root of the StruggleThe living condition in material existence depends more or less on one's intelligence and powerful living energy. Intelligence to counteract the hard struggle for existence is assisted by the senses for acquiring knowledge, and the living energy maintains himself by manipulating the active organs, like the hands and legs. But on the whole, the struggle for existence is an exertion of the mode of passion. VedabaseThis is one of Śrīla Prabhupāda's most direct and practical observations in the entire chapter. Every time you use your hands to acquire something, your legs to chase something, your eyes to desire something, your tongue to enjoy something — you are operating from the mode of passion. And passion, by its very nature, is the engine of the hard struggle for existence. We build careers with our hands, pursue ambitions with our legs, analyse situations with our intelligence — and yet remain perpetually unsatisfied. Why? Because all these instruments were born from rajo-guṇa, whose very nature is restlessness, craving, and incompletion.🌟 The Vedic Solution: Engage the Senses in Krishna's ServiceThe senses themselves are not the enemy. They are instruments. And instruments can be redirected. Sa vai manaḥ kṛṣṇa-padāravindayoḥ — you have to engage your mind unto the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa, and your tongue always chanting and taking prasādam. Then all senses will be controlled. VedabaseEyes engaged to see the Deity. Ears engaged to hear the Bhāgavatam. Nose to smell the flowers offered to Krishna. Hands to serve the temple. Legs to walk to the altar. This is the entire process of bhakti-yoga: the complete re-engagement of all ten sense organs — born from passion — in the transcendental service of the Lord. When the senses serve Krishna, they are no longer instruments of bondage. They become the very path of liberation. This verse also marks an important milestone — we are now entering the final stage of Brahmājī's cosmic description to Nārada, moving from the gross elements through the subtle instruments of the living entity's embodied existence, building toward the great assembly of creation in the verses that follow.Presented by @VinnieKakkar7579 with warmth, clarity, and deep devotion.🙏 Join us every morning as we journey verse by verse through Srimad Bhagavatam — building real knowledge, bhakti, and surrender to Krishna.👉 Subscribe to Morning with Krishna for daily Bhagavatam classes, kirtan & Vaishnava wisdom. 👉 Like & Share if this class made you see your senses differently. 👉 Tell us in the comments — which of your ten senses do you find hardest to engage in Krishna's service, and why?⏱ Chapters: 0:00 – Srimad Bhagavatam Prayers 0:45 – Recap 13:55 – Srimad Bhagavatam 2.5.31 28:10 – Prem Dhwani 29:38Conclusion #VaikunthaVasiniLaxmiDeviDas#SrimadBhagavatam #BhagavataPurana #Canto2Chapter5 #SB2531 #OriginOfSenses #TenSenses #Jnanendriya #Karmendriya #Prana #ModeOfPassion #RajoGuna #LivingEnergy #SensesAndMind #BuddhiAndPrana #StruggleForExistence #VedicPhilosophy #SensesInKrishnaService #BhaktiYoga #KrishnaConsciousness #VedicCosmology #VedicScience #ISKCON #SrilaPrabhupada #HareKrishna #Vaishnavism #SanatanaDharma #MorningWithKrishna #VaikunthaVasiniLaxmiDeviDas #DailyBhagavatam #YouAreNotYourSenses #WhyAreWeStruggling
