Carlos III de España (1759 – 1788) y el Absolutismo Ilustrado. Isabel Cendoya
This video introduces us to one of the most fascinating kings of the 18th century, Charles III, King of Spain from 1759 to 1788. Following his rich reign in Naples, as we saw in the previous session on this monarch ( • El rey Carlos III en Nápoles. Renovador de... ), he left a profound mark on the territories of the Hispanic Monarchy, still one of the world's great empires, in numerous aspects of the society of his time. These included notable government reforms, important military campaigns, outstanding patronage, and promotion of the arts. All of this unfolds within the context of immense interest: the Enlightenment and the monarchies of enlightened absolutism, in a century of extraordinary complexity and significance. Isabel Cendoya, a young and brilliant historian, brings us closer to this rich tapestry. It took place within the framework of the 18th European Culture Days organized by Raíces de Europa from September to December 2022, and sponsored by the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council and the Álava Provincial Council.
