Isabel I de Castilla: la mujer, la reina y el contexto histórico, político y cultural. Oscar Melgosa
Lecture on Queen Isabella I of Castile ( • Isabel I de Castilla: la mujer, la reina y... ), perhaps better known as Isabella the Catholic. Queen Isabella was undoubtedly one of the most outstanding figures of Renaissance Europe, a woman who, in the society of her time, governed almost exclusively by men, rose to become an exceptional figure and ruler. After inheriting a kingdom with serious internal problems and deep divisions and power struggles, she transformed it into one of the most powerful monarchies in all of Renaissance Europe. Oscar Raúl Melgosa, Professor of Modern History at the University of Burgos, author of numerous publications, rigorous researcher, expert on Queen Isabella, and excellent communicator, brought us closer to the fascinating life of this woman and queen, and to her fascinating historical context. The conference took place within the framework of the 17th European Culture Conference, which was sponsored by the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council and the Álava Provincial Council.
