Leaving Guilin, Driving into the Mountains of Xiangxi | Fenghuang Ancient Town

This is Episode 19 of Driving Across China. Today, we leave the landscape city of Guilin and drive north toward the historic town of Fenghuang Ancient Town, hidden deep in the mountains of western Hunan. During this journey, the scenery gradually changes from Guilin’s karst landscapes to the mountains and river valleys of Xiangxi. The road winds through the mountains, passing villages, rivers, and quiet mountain roads. The scenery slowly transitions from the elegant landscapes of Guangxi to the more ancient and cultural landscapes of western Hunan. As the car enters Fenghuang Ancient Town, the Tuojiang River flows through the town, and traditional stilt houses stand along the riverbanks. The journey also shifts from natural scenery into a world of history and culture.
