South Iceland Waterfalls + Hidden Gems | Ring Road Day 12 [4K]

Rain or shine, these are the best waterfalls in South Iceland! Discover Fjadrargljufur, Skogafoss, Kvernufoss & more on a dramatic Ring Road day. ------- Ring Road Iceland Day 12 in October 2024! 🌧️💦 📍 Morning: Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon (aka “Justin Bieber Canyon”) This winding 2km-long gorge was carved by glacial meltwater after the Ice Age and looks like something from Game of Thrones. 🎥 Made famous by Bieber’s "I'll Show You" video 🪨 Stay on marked trails — the moss is fragile! 🚁 Drone heaven if the weather allows 🕒 Allow 30–45 minutes 📍 Next Stop: Yoda Cave (Hjörleifshöfði) Hidden inside a volcanic rock hill in the black sand desert — and yes, it really looks like Yoda’s silhouette! 🚶‍♀️ Short 5–10 min walk from parking 📸 Great photo op with the cave and sand plains, also black sand! 🏔 Optional: Hike up for panoramic views if weather allows (and time permits) 🍽️ Lunch in Vik Our original plan was black crust pizza... but it was closed 😭 ✅ We ended up at a Chinese Wok (Wok in Vik) spot and it totally hit the spot. Vik is a charming village and a good stop to stretch, refuel, and explore briefly. 💧 Afternoon: Waterfall Trio! We explored four iconic waterfalls — all with their own vibe: 1️⃣ Kvernufoss 💎 Hidden gem near Skógafoss 🥾 Short trail through a mossy canyon 🚿 Walk behind the waterfall (bring waterproof gear!) 2️⃣ Skógafoss 💥 One of Iceland’s most powerful falls (60m high!) ⛰️ Climb to the top for river and mountain views 🌈 Mist + sun = rainbows, if you're lucky and come at the right time 💰 1000 ISK parking (~$7) 3️⃣ Seljalandsfoss + Gljúfrabúi 🌪️ Walk behind the falls — prepare to get drenched 🧭 Gljúfrabúi is hidden in a canyon just 5 min away, be prepared to wait for the iconic photo! 🌄 Both fed by Eyjafjallajökull glacier melt 💰 900 ISK parking covers both 🚘 Drive to Golden Circle Area We ended the day with a peaceful drive toward our stay at Hotel Laugarvatn, officially entering the Golden Circle region.
