My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Alessio Ghersi. This video was not easy to make. Alessio was my peer. Like me, he was a father. He leaves behind a wife and two children. On April 29, 2023, in the Musi Mountains, in the province of Udine, the Italian Air Force mourned a momentous loss. A Pioneer 300, registration I-8548, crashed into the wooded slopes above Lusevera. Aboard was Alessio Ghersi, former pilot of the Frecce Tricolori—Pony 5—aerobatic team, along with a passenger. Neither survived. In this video, we reconstruct that day step by step: what we know, what we don't know, and what emerges from the technical and operational analysis.
