In this documentary, I also take you to the real Lotus 56B preserved at the National Automobile Museum in Turin, with exclusive footage shot by me and many details you'll rarely find described elsewhere. 👉 After weeks of research through original articles from Quattroruote and Autosprint, period photographs, and historical documentation, I have reconstructed the journey of a car that represented one of the most audacious attempts to revolutionize Formula 1. We'll discover together: how the Pratt & Whitney turbine project was born; the history of the Paxton STP that dominated Indianapolis in 1967; the Lotus 56 designed by Colin Chapman for the 1968 500 Miles; the tragic accident that claimed the life of Mike Spence during testing; the debut of the Lotus 56B in Formula 1; the technical problems, the limitations of the turbine and all-wheel drive; the rain-soaked Dutch Grand Prix; the curious participation in Monza with the historic black and gold livery that anticipated the future John Player Special; the details of the car now preserved at the MAUTO in Turin, including the original paintwork that still reveals the red of the Gold Leaf. 👇 At the end of the race, the manufacturers' standings still saw Peugeot lead with 121 points, followed by Lancia with 105, with only three rounds remaining in the 1986 World Rally Championship.
