This industrial heritage is still felt through the disused structures and mills that characterize the landscapes. In that period the town was called "petit Paris" or little Paris...but it is also remembered for the revolt and killing of miners who, for the first time, protested for more humane working conditions. Buggerru, fondato nel 1864 come borgo minerario, custodisce un passato di fiorente attività mineraria. Questo patrimonio industriale si fa ancora sentire attraverso le strutture e le miniere dismesse che caratterizzano il paesaggio. In quel periodo il paese veniva chiamato "petit Paris" ovvero piccola Parigi, ma si ricorda anche per rivolta e l'uccisione di minatori che, per la prima volta, protestarono per condizioni lavorative più umane.
