Alora is a town nestled in the Guadalhorce Valley, less than an hour from Malaga or Marbella. I thought that my visit to Álora was going to be summed up in 4 hours but once again, a town in Andalusia has covered my mouth again because our tour of Álora lasted practically all day, and we did not visit the famous Caminito del Rey. In this video you will know what to see in Álora in one day. Our visit to Álora began with its main tourist and cultural attraction such as its Arab Castle. After a walk full of slopes we were able to enjoy this privileged enclave from which you can see the entire town as well as the train station. On the castle wall is the romance of Álora la bien cercada, which recounts the death of Diego de Ribera in 1434. Inside the castle is the only semicircular arch in all of Europe. After enjoying the viewpoints from the Castle, with views of the train station and Mount Hacho, we went down to the Plaza de la Despedía, where the Cervantes Viewpoint is located. And it is that Cervantes lived for 5 years in Álora from where he traveled to the surrounding towns to collect taxes. At that time he had already written Galatea. In the same square is the Municipal Museum where the history of Álora is told from Neolithic times to the present day. We also find the Church of the Incarnation, which is the second largest in the province, after the Cathedral of Malaga, and was built over 99 years, from 1600 to 1699. It was time to eat and we went to the Cristóbal restaurant and for dessert we tasted one of the best sweets I have ever eaten in my life, the churripizza, a round of churros with different chocolates, hazelnuts and cookies.
