Negative Painting Over Collage : In My Sketchbook

062 In today’s video I continue my quest to figure out the challenges of Negative Painting - in my giant Reader’s Digest Map Sketchbook. I begin by traveling back in time to an unfinished two page spread inspired by artist Charlotte Wensley. Using copies of my digital art, I covered up sections of unloved colors with well-loved papers, then embellished areas with hand-carved stamps. The results were so pretty, I couldn’t make myself paint over them! The solution? Make color copies, glue them down, then paint! Watch me as I try to get my head around negative vs positive space - a process I’m still trying to understand. The final spread was finished with some pen work, encouraging expressions, and thoughts about family love. Please join me!
