Langenfeld (ots) - The Langenfeld fire department was alerted to a fire on Hardt Street on Saturday evening, March 8, 2025, at around 6:42 p.m. Several callers reported that the hall of a commercial business was on fire there. When the first emergency services arrived, it turned out that a hall measuring around 25 x 10 meters was fully ablaze. The head of operations immediately raised the alarm level to "city alarm". All units of the Langenfeld fire department were alerted at the same time. Due to the location in a back yard, hoses had to be laid over a long distance. Four teams wearing heavy breathing apparatus and each with a C hollow jet pipe immediately went to the building to fight the fire, while the turntable ladder carried out a blocking position. The blocking position is intended to prevent a fire from spreading to another area that is not yet on fire. This prevented the fire from spreading to an office directly adjacent. Basic protection for the city of Langenfeld was ensured from the scene of the incident. Late in the evening, the fire department carried out another fire inspection at the scene of the incident.
