In this video, we decided to test a unique theory: Which is the ultimate bait for rockfish? We compared a jar of squid shiokara (salted/fermented squid) that we dug out from the depths of the refrigerator—essentially "super-aged"—against a freshly bought jar of squid shiokara. We hit the water to see which one would reign supreme as the "god-tier" bait. Unfortunately, the rockfish weren't biting at all, so we couldn't test their effectiveness on the fish themselves. However, we didn't want to leave you hanging, so we've included an in-depth review of the scent profile of this super-aged shiokara! Since the rockfish plan fell through, we switched gears and targeted Japanese whiting (Kisu) using lugworms (Jarime) instead! How did the fishing trip turn out?
