SBS and Rykneld Homes - Working Together

Sustainable Building Services and Rykneld Homes have maintained a productive and long-standing collaborative relationship that is making a real difference to local communities. Here, staff from both organisations give their insights. Gary Lawson, Managing Director of Sustainable Building Services (UK) Ltd notes that the two organisations have worked together since 2018 and, via numerous decarbonisation schemes, have helped to improve the energy efficiency of hundreds of hard-to-heat residential properties. He explains that the relationship is based on collaboration: SBS has taken time to understand the client’s housing stock and making sure that residents have the best journey possible. Niall Clark, Director of Customer & Strategic Partnerships and Deputy MD of Rykneld Homes, explains the organisation’s role as a registered social housing provider. He has confidence in the skills and capacity that SBS brings, and recognises the value it adds in terms of bid-submissions and early mobilisation on site. He adds that he values having ready access to SBS’s senior leadership team and the fact that conversations are always open and honest. Helen Brown, Head of Regeneration at Rykneld Homes notes that the two organisations have shared goals and carry out joint customer engagement as part of their collaborative approach. Contracts Manager David Mannion notes that all stakeholders work as a team and take a shared approach to problem-solving. Pat Rogers, Senior Resident Liaison Officer for SBS explains that residents certainly appreciate the work that is being done and the benefits that it yields. It not only saves them money; it also helps to build a sense of community pride. Numerous local residents then comment on the difference that energy efficiency measures have made to the warmth of their homes, their household budgets and to the general appearance of their neighbourhoods. They point out that the delivery team has always been very responsive, obliging and quick to act.
