Camping on Thomas Mountain | One of Southern California’s Best Overland Camps

In this episode of Trail Addix we head deep into the San Bernardino National Forest to explore one of Southern California’s hidden overland gems — Thomas Mountain. The trail climbs high above the Anza Valley through winding dirt roads, tall pine forests, and incredible mountain views. After reaching the summit ridge we set up camp on the edge of the mountain with panoramic views stretching toward the Pacific Ocean. But the mountain had other plans. Overnight the winds picked up to nearly 50 mph, shaking the truck and testing the new ORU Designs Bruin V3 camper. Even with the brutal winds we enjoyed an incredible sunset, campfire with friends, and a cold mountain morning breakfast before heading back down the trail. Thomas Mountain might be one of the most underrated overlanding destinations in California.
