Why 80% Of Homeless Van Dwellers Give Up On Van Life Within 6 Months (And What The 20% Know)
Why 80% Of Homeless Van Dwellers Give Up On Van Life Within 6 Months (And What The 20% Know) They did not sell a house. They did not choose a dream. They lost an apartment they could no longer afford, looked at the small set of options the country had left them, and they bought a van. They were going to outsmart the rent system and claw a little dignity back. Six months later, eighty percent of them are gone from that van. And the part nobody tells you, the part almost every other channel carefully steps around, is where those people went next. They did not go back to an apartment. There was no apartment to go back to. They went to a shelter, to a sister's couch, to the woods behind a strip mall, to somewhere harder than the van they had just given up on. This is not the retiree regret story you have been seeing all over YouTube. This is not a couple losing nineteen thousand dollars on a Tiffin Wayfarer they fell in love with at an RV show. This is what happens to working-class Americans who run out of options first, take the only deal left on the table, and find out within six months that the deal was rigged. There are three hundred and fifty thousand Americans living in their vehicles full-time in 2026. Eighty percent of the people who start this within the next six months will not still be doing it by the time the leaves change next year. The difference between the eighty percent who quit and the twenty percent who survive is not luck, not toughness, not character. It is a system. A specific, learnable, brutal little system, and almost nobody is told what it is in time. This video is that system. Seven reasons eighty percent give up, with the actual mechanisms that break them, and the specific framework the twenty percent use to make it work.
