Part1:Recovery from Three Phobias(Fear of distracting thoughts, fear of promotion, fear of illness)

The theme of the Mental Health & Morita Therapy Seminar Vol.12 is “Phobias and neuroses - Overcome through Morita therapy -.” The speaker is Mr. Yoshiyuki Fujiwara (Fromer chairman of NPO Seikatsu no Hakkenkai). The content of the first session is” Recovery from Three Phobias.” When he was a senior in high school, Mr. Fujiwara began to worry about the distracting thoughts that popped into his head while studying for college entrance exams (fear of distracting thoughts), and this became a source of distress for him. After entering the workforce, he began to feel anxious in “difficult situations” such as promotions and transfers (fear of promotion). Around the age of 42, he began to feel anxious about AIDS, which was prevalent at the time, and started “doctor shopping” (fear of illness). However, around the same time, he was nominated as a candidate for department head and experienced the reality that, despite his own reservations, the company’s evaluation of him was positive. Through this experience, Mr. Fujiwara realized that even while experiencing symptoms and anxiety, if he simply did what he was supposed to do, he would achieve results.
