In this video, I spend several days exploring Luang Prabang, from its UNESCO-protected old town and historic temples to the everyday neighborhoods, markets, river life, and food that most visitors never see. Once the seat of Lao royalty for centuries, Luang Prabang sits at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, blending Buddhist tradition, French colonial architecture, and modern Lao daily life. I visit iconic places like Mount Phousi, the Royal Palace, and some of the city’s most important temples — but I also cross the river, wander local markets, try traditional Lao food, and explore parts of the city that don’t usually make it into travel guides. This isn’t a checklist or a rushed highlights tour. It’s an honest look at what Luang Prabang actually feels like to experience with 5 days in the city — from peak sun to night markets — during the dry season. 🚩Places from the video: Anakha Handicraft: https://www.anakhalifestyle.com/ Family Bakery & Restaurant (khao soi soup and baked goods): nkseeds.org/our-restaurant Saffron Coffee: https://saffroncoffee.com/ 👀Watch next: 🌎The best budget destinations 2026 →    • 10 Surprisingly Affordable Countries To Vi...   🌏The cheapest cities for 2026 →    • The 10 Best CHEAP Cities In 2026 ($20 A Day)   🚀 Check out all the videos from my current round-the-world trip here →    • First Round-The-World Trip   🌍Videos about other great places to visit:    • Places To Visit   🥗Videos about traveling for the world's best food:    • Travel For Food 🌮   💸 More travel tips and hacks to save money →    • Travel Insight 💡   🌎 More travel videos from around the world →    • Travel Inspiration 🚀   00:00 5 days in Luang Prabang 00:27 The Royal Capital 01:17 Mount Phousi 05:20 Crossing the Nam Khan River 07:00 River Beach (including Feathershade set up) 09:00 Luang Prabang Center Hotel 10:01 Exploring the streets 12:42 Luang Prabang Central market 15:28 Luang Prabang's 7-11 16:29 Walking from the market to the old town 17:42 Mekong River Walk 19:54 Mark Wiens's favorite coffee (Saffron Coffee) 24:25 The missing bamboo bridge 25:54 Old town sunset walk 29:02 Local Lao Dinner at Family Bakery & Restaurant 31:29 That Pathum at night 33:18 Luang Prabang By the way, this video is sponsored by Feathershade and the description contains links that I believe you may receive value from.
