Visual Acuity Examination using the Arclight Cloth Chart (English)

This video will show you how to assess distance and near visual acuity using the low-cost Arclight package. Knowing how to test visual acuity is essential in the evaluation of any patient presenting with an eye problem. The 3 meter Arclight Cloth Chart can record distance visual acuity as a Snellen fraction or in LogMAR notation. The near visual acuity card will help identify those unable to see well up close. Combined with pinhole testing users can help identify those needing to be referred for glasses. Patients with loss of vision due to other eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy or macular degeneration can then be further assessed using the Arclight ophthalmoscope and front of the eye examination loupe.
