Pêche à pied : l'abondance en hiver !

We took advantage of a favorable tide to do our first shore fishing trip of the year. We fished near Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, an excellent area for all kinds of shellfish: bivalves, gastropods, and crustaceans. The harvest started immediately with plenty of cockles, clams, oysters, and almonds. The weather was cold, but the fishing was very good. So we decided to head to the Île des Ebihens to fish in the tidal pools at the lower end of the intertidal zone. There again, the catch was plentiful: clams, large prawns, brown crabs, lobsters, velvet crabs, and stone crabs. We also had some wonderful encounters with wildlife, spotting many fish from the intertidal rocks (goby, pipefish, and red blenny). We even found a triggerfish! A superb winter outing!
