Making a late Victorian walking skirt

Hello everyone and welcome to a new video! A couple of years back, I made an Edwardian walking skirt that I absolutely loved. In an effort to wear more of what I make, I tried wearing it to work once. However, the skirt was drafted in to fit over an Edwardian corset (and even then it was a little tight!). It was very impractical so I looked into making new skirts. I was super inspired by Bernadette Banner's video of her walking skirt (   • Making an 1895 Walking Skirt (Using an 189...  ). Back in May 2019, I bought some wool on an online sale that would be perfect. For the pattern, I used the Keystone Jacket and Dress Cutter, dated 1895 (https://archive.org/details/keystonej.... The drafting took me a little while as the instructions are not very thorough but after a guess-work, they worked into a great pattern. I have worn this skirt a few times now and I am happy with how warm and comfortable it is! I have plans to make more wardrobe pieces, so stay tuned :) Books I mentioned: Keystone Jacket and Dress Cutter https://archive.org/details/keystonej... & https://amzn.to/36VHzUp * Authentic Victorian Dressmaking Techniques https://amzn.to/385jCdr * The Voice of Fashion https://amzn.to/2TjGXnI * If you are interested in seeing some more of my work, here are some links: Instagram: @catscostumery   / catscostumery   Blog: https://happilyevertaffeta.wordpress.com Facebook:   / catscostumery   Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/V7V7HRLN Music is from Epidemic Sound. links are affiliate links
