The Coat Is Finally Taking Shape | Victorian Coat Progress

After four and a half years, this Victorian velvet coat is finally beginning to look like a coat. In this video, I finish the fourth embroidered velvet panel (out of seven), tackle a problem that's been causing the embroidery to pucker, and cut out the finished coat pieces. One thing I've learned from projects like this is that perfection isn't the goal. Sometimes things go wrong. Sometimes the original plan doesn't work. Sometimes the solution is simply to stop, look carefully, and improvise. Along the way, I share a montage of the progress that's happened over the past eleven months and reveal just how far this project has come since you last saw it. For the first time, I pin all the completed pieces onto the coat mock-up so we can see the shape emerging. After years of embroidery, patterning, design decisions, mistakes, repairs, and course corrections, we're officially past the halfway point. Thank you for following this extraordinary journey.
