With the flexible dollar, practically nothing should change because the reference value has already been regulating the market since December, and the dollar has fallen from over 14 bolivianos in November 2025 to less than 9.80 bolivianos today. For this premise to hold and not generate concern among those who contracted with the dollar at 6.96 bolivianos, the government must guarantee strict control of the 10-cent exchange rate gap in the retail market, ensure that banks and exchange houses do not deviate from the established rate, and use Central Bank reserves only to prevent uncontrolled increases, as the Minister of Economy warned. In parallel, legal certainty is required for existing contracts through a transitional regulation that defines how loans, leases, and imports agreed upon at the fixed exchange rate will be adjusted, preventing uncertainty from falling solely on debtors. The Executive Branch must also ensure supply by repatriating dollars from exporters, channeling remittances at the official exchange rate, and passing on the decrease in oil prices to consumers. In addition, there needs to be daily, clear communication explaining why the dollar remains below 10 bolivianos.
