Die anderen Italiener in der Formel 1 - Alfa Romeo
The most wonderful celebration is the Italian one…and the Italians are celebrating…even though the race hasn't even started yet…but the sensation is already complete in qualifying… Just 3 minutes before the end of qualifying, Niki Lauda, who had returned from motorsport retirement, is knocked off his seemingly secure pole position…by an Alfa Romeo…and with an Italian in the cockpit, no less…Andrea de Cesaris…many consider him a rising F1 star…and the youngest pole-sitter to date… Shortly before the start…front row…de Cesaris' Alfa Romeo…next to him, the wily veteran Niki Lauda in the McLaren…both teams sponsored by the tobacco giant Marlboro…therefore almost indistinguishable…the Alfa just looks a bit bigger…which has its reason…the powerful Alfa 12-cylinder engine is simply larger than the Ford Cosworth V8 in the McLaren…but unfortunately also heavier…and thirstier…and that has always been its strength. The biggest problem… But now they're on pole…and the second Alfa Romeo is in fifth place…will this 1982 Long Beach Grand Prix finally be the breakthrough for the proud, traditional brand? But the race doesn't start well…Bruno Giacomelli is eliminated in lap 6 after a collision…an Alfa gone…but at least de Cesaris takes the lead from pole position…and in the first few laps, the Italian really does pull away from the rest of the field…until second-placed Lauda picks up speed and chips away at the gap…and then, in lap 19, the young de Cesaris is held up by a backmarker…Raul Boesel in the March…while lapping another car…and Niki is already on his tail… Finally, de Cesaris gets past the March…but his Italian temper is so riled up that he pumps his fist in the air at Boesel while lapping him…and forgets to shift gears…Lauda notices this immediately and overtakes the Alfa Romeo, which is hitting the rev limiter…lead lost…and it gets even worse… In lap 34, de Cesaris is briefly distracted…distracted Due to another car's engine fire…or perhaps still annoyed with Boesel and his mistake…and promptly crashes into the wall…race over… A disaster for the young Andrea de Cesaris, but also for the entire Alfa Romeo team…and unfortunately, a symbol of the team's entire F1 career in the 70s and 80s…always promising…but never achieving true triumph… Like & Subscribe for more Formula 1 videos / @nabravoo Sources (Sources): https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/ https://www.motorsport-total.com/ https://primotipo.com/ https://en.wikipedia.org/ https://www.formelaustria.at/ / @f-won_racing https://sfcriga.com/ https://de.wikipedia.org/ https://www.hockenheimring.de/ https://de.motorsport.com/ https://www.motorsport-magazin.com/ https://www.speedweek.com/ / @arvfactory INFO: This video is for entertainment and informational purposes only.
