Did we go too far here – or was it still okay? This apparent lost place surrounding a former model-making and model-railway shop put us in a situation we'd never experienced before. We actually just wanted to explore a classic lost place: an abandoned model shop that we thought had been closed for some time. But as soon as we entered, we quickly realized that something was different. Lights were still on, an alarm system was active, and many things were still there as if someone had only recently left. This definitely made us nervous – even if that doesn't quite come across in the video. This "in-between stage" between a lost place and an active business is significantly more unsettling than a typical abandoned location. At the same time, this shop was an important hub for model-making and railway enthusiasts for many years: model railways, model railway accessories, locomotives, wagons, track, scenery, figures, model airplanes, military and tank kits, cars, RC models, Carrera tracks, slot cars, diorama building, paints, tools, and much more. This shop was clearly a fixture, especially for model railway enthusiasts, model builders, hobbyists, and railway aficionados. After exploring the premises, we faced an unusual decision: instead of simply leaving it at that, we drove to the shop's new location. There, we not only saw a modern model railway test track but also had an open conversation with the owner. For us, it was an exciting change of perspective – from the perceived abandoned place to the real story behind it. The new shop impressively demonstrates that model making and model railways remain vibrant hobbies. Whether it's HO scale, N scale, Z scale, digital control, sound decoders, scenery, slot car racing, or classic plastic model making – this is all about passion, expertise, and tradition.
