Unintended Tracks: Hidden Impacts of Linear Infrastructure in Taita Taveta County, Kenya

Launched in 2017, the Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway is Kenya’s largest infrastructure project since independence, transforming national connectivity while reshaping local landscapes. In Taita Taveta County, where multiple major infrastructure developments intersect—this short documentary explores the lived experiences of communities and wildlife along the cross cutting infrastructure developments. It highlights both the benefits and unintended social, economic, and environmental impacts of large-scale infrastructure, elevating community voices and sparking dialogue on the need for more inclusive, people‑centered, and sustainable development in Kenya.
