In addition, Sondang Frishka has professional experience as a lecturer, legal consultant, and researcher. She served at the National Commission on Violence Against Women from 2008 to 2026. She has held several strategic positions within the commission. Among them were Coordinator of General Affairs and Human Resources. She then served as a member of the Commission's Institutional Strengthening Team. Sondang was then promoted to Assistant Leader of the Commission. Then, in 2016, she was appointed International Advocacy Coordinator. As is known, the Commission initially assessed the perpetrator's heinous acts as premeditated serious assault. Sondang then explained the legal status of this case's classification at the international level. He stated that the abuse experienced by YTR cannot yet be categorized as "torture" according to the definition set out in the United Nations Convention Against Torture. The UN Convention stipulates that the term "torture" can only be assigned if the infliction of severe pain has a specific purpose, such as coercing a confession, acts of discrimination, and there is an element of inaction or complicity on the part of the state, such as law enforcement officials, the boarding house, or the community.
