Camino de Santiago (Part 4) | The Mistake That Changed Our Week

We didn’t plan to take an extra day in León… but it turned out to be exactly what we needed. In Part 4 of our Camino de Santiago journey, a “mistake” becomes a turning point—helping us recover, reset, and find a new rhythm as we continue west across northern Spain. After weeks of physical and mental challenges on the Camino Francés, this stretch—from León to O Cebreiro—feels different. What starts with a much-needed rest day turns into one of the most memorable parts of our journey: • A rare zero day in León (great food, rest, and recovery) • The long, flat roads leaving León (and why many pilgrims take the southern route) • Crossing under 300 km remaining • A special stop at Cruz de Ferro at sunrise • A tough descent and a mission to replace worn-out hiking shoes • Walking through the beautiful Bierzo wine region • Entering Galicia and taking on the legendary climb to O Cebreiro Along the way, we reconnect with fellow pilgrims, share laughs over “apple compote,” and start to feel like things are finally clicking. By the time we reach O Cebreiro, it feels like we’ve turned a corner—physically and mentally—and are ready for the final stretch to Santiago de Compostela. But as always… the Camino has other plans. 👉🏻 Stay tuned for Part 5 as we take on the final week—through rain, mud, and everything in between. 🤙🏻 If you’re planning your own Camino—or just dreaming about it—consider subscribing and following along for the full journey. 00:00 Intro 00:40 León Rest Day 02:15 Day 23 03:54 Day 24 09:06 Day 25 13:17 Day 26 18:20 Day 27 22:05 Day 28 #CaminoDeSantiago #CaminoFrances #Pilgrimage #HikingSpain #CaminoJourney #LeónSpain #OCebreiro #SpainTravel #LongDistanceHiking #TravelVlog #JayAndBeans
